Umberto Moruzzi, a professional numismatist, continues a tradition handed down by his father by specialising in Roman and Italian coins. He has run the family firm Moruzzi Numismatica since 1980 which has become one of the most renowned numismatic firms in Italy.
He is also an official numismatic expert accredited to the Tribunal of Rome and member of the examining commission for Numismatics and Sigillography (Sphragistics) to the Chamber of Commerce of Rome. As a registered journalist in the Lazio region, Umberto writes articles on national newspapers and specialised magazines. He is a founder member of the NIP (Numismatici Italiani Professionisti) for which he was secretary from 1999-2001 and of FENAP [Federation of European Professional Numismatic Associations] from 2000-2001.
Umberto is also a member of the RNS (Royal Numismatic Society), SNI (Società Numismatica Italiana), NIA (Numismatici Italiani Associati), FIMA (Federazione Italiana Mercanti d'Arte) and the BNTA (British Numismatic Trade Association).
As numismatic expert accredited to the Tribunal of Rome he has been a technical consultant to various Public Prosecutors Offices in Rome and Milan for some of the most important cases dealing with coins in post war Italy.
